I am currently a Washington State licensed mental health counselor, employed at Rule and Associates. Since 2011, I have been President and CEO of Teens, Training, and Taxes (TTT), a non-profit that was designed to provide financial education for people who have limited support systems. This could include homeless youth, foster children, or children or family members who have been incarcerated. I was a mental health counselor for two years at Flagstaff Medical Center Behavioral Health Unit in Flagstaff, Arizona. While in Arizona, I was also an in-home counselor for foster homes for five years, and for nine years, I was a substitute teacher in juvenile detention, the adult jail (where juveniles to be charged as adults are held), and I also was a substitute teacher at Ponderosa High School, an alternative high school, much like Options High School in Bellingham, Washington. Concurrently, for nine years, I taught in-person psychology classes and business math at Coconino Community College in Flagstaff with both dual-enrolled high school students and traditional college students. I also taught some of those classes via ITV to accommodate Havasupai students, who live at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, as well as Hopi, and Navajo students. I concurrently taught at Mohave Community College as an online psychology instructor. I have completed four AmeriCorps contracts, most recently as the College Access Corps volunteer at Options High School in Bellingham during the 2017-2018 academic year, assisting 12 seniors successfully enroll in and begin attending college. I also taught psychology, business math, and accounting classes at Whatcom Community College for four years.

I have a master’s in educational psychology and a master’s in financial planning. I am both a licensed and accredited mental health counselor, holding the National Board for Certified Counselors credential since 2004. I am also a financial counselor, holding the Accredited Financial Counselor credential since 2014. I completed my doctorate (Ed.S) in education in December 2014.
