Celina Tupou-Fulivai - 141

Congressional District 6

Presidential Preference: Joseph R. Biden

Gender: Female

I am a proud Latina and Indigenous Pasifika (Pacific Islander). While I identify with the AAPI community, it’s important to recognize the diversity within this group. Pacific Islanders have unique experiences and perspectives.

Hello, my name is Celina Tupou-Fulivai. My journey in service began over a decade ago as an AmeriCorps member with the Washington Service Corps, where I served as a Community Liaison at the Tacoma Housing Authority.

Since then, I’ve served in various roles within the community. Most notably, I’ve spearheaded international aid efforts in the Pacific Islands, championed representation and equity for marginalized indigenous voices through my business Heliaki, and participated in, as well as trained others in, legislative advocacy and grassroots organizing through organizations like New American Leaders and the Washington State Parent Ambassadors.

On a personal note, I’m a mother to 3 Tacoma Schools students, including one with special needs. I stand alongside my partner, a public school educator, and my parents who immigrated from the islands—Nana, who has had an extensive career as a civil servant in this state, and Papa (deceased), a proud retired US Army Veteran.

Civic duty isn’t just a concept for me—it’s the mana behind everything I do. My family has instilled in me the values of hard work, service to others, and opportunity for all.

I’m driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to safe, thriving communities. This means creating environments where the most marginalized feel empowered, where children can flourish without barriers, and where small businesses and community-based organizations have the opportunity to thrive.

To achieve this, I’m committed to advocating for policies that prioritize empowering at-risk youth, providing proper funding for community development, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all to adopt sustainable practices that protect our planet for future generations.

I firmly believe in a government that is for the people, by the people, and I envision a government that is transparent, listens, learns, and leads with service, integrity, and inclusivity.

I’m stepping up to lead by example. Thank you for considering me as your delegate.
