Denise Hammer - 111

Denise Hammer would be honored to represent the 10th Congressional district of Washington at the National Convention. With a deep commitment to progressive values and grassroots activism, Denise has been actively engaged in her community. As a lifelong resident of the Olympia area, Denise developed a passion for social justice and community engagement at a young age. This led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Martin’s University, From there, Denise completed a graduate degree in social work at the University of Washington while working as an advocate for local nonprofit agencies.

Later, Denise continued in her career working on behalf of children and families at DCYF. After a brief career hiatus to raise two children with her spouse, Denise returned to work in public schools as a therapist and counselor. Throughout her career, she has worked tirelessly to amplify the voices of marginalized communities and advance policies that promote inclusion and opportunity for all. She has been a vocal advocate for issues such as healthcare reform, disability acceptance, and economic equity, striving to create change at the local level and beyond.

Denise has devoted her free time to serving her community through volunteering in leadership positions for local clubs, her church, homeowners association, and summer youth camp. Most recently she is serving on the board for Thurston County Inclusion.

As an elected delegate, Denise is committed to representing the diverse perspectives of Washington and advocating for a Democratic platform that reflects the needs and aspirations of all. She believes in the power of unity and proactive and collaborative problem solving to address the pressing issues facing the nation. She looks forward to contributing her voice to shaping a brighter future.
