Eileen Dempsey - 248

My passion is community building. My personal values include: Kindness, Generosity, Authenticity, Hard Work, and Unconditional Love. I believe that solutions for our community need to serve all members of our community, and that we need to find the compassion and patience to meet people where they are at. My vision for the Spokane community is to build a diverse space where all people are accepted and can build prosperity for themself.

Professionally, I am a project manager and technology innovator. I believe in the power of sharing information. I prefer solving challenges with a team approach, pulling many diverse perspectives into decision-making processes.

I have been working with foster youth/young adults for the last 6 years as a foster parent. I have made my home into a safe haven for LGBTQ+ youth to live and grow. Teens I work with have big behaviors that are a product of the trauma the have experienced. I guide my kids to learn new skills and to pursue growth opportunities.

I am currently a mentor and workshop presenter for the SCORE Spokane Chapter, where we provide free high-quality mentoring for small businesses and educational workshops. I love working with small business owners because they are passionate and they add local character to our communities. I have also served as chapter V.P. and Event Coordinator.

I have a BFA in Sculpture and Public Art from the University of Washington, and an MBA from Gonzaga University. I actively support diversity in my community, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, equity for individuals with disabilities, public schools, economic opportunity for all, libraries, parks, trails, and recycling/upcycling. I would like to continue my service to our Spokane and Washington communities by raising my voice in the democratic process.
